Servair and Dester support Transavia to eliminate single-use plastics

Thanks to the expertise of the Servair and Dester teams, Transavia France becomes the first low-cost company to eliminate single-use plastic consumables on board its flights (mixers, cutlery, cups, bags).

Last June, the company announced its plan to stop distributing single-use plastic items on board its aircraft by the end of 2019. Six months later, the commitment is honoured.

These are now being replaced by alternative and sustainable solutions:
- Transavia France will be the first company in the world to use paper cups certified without plastic and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) for the service of its hot drinks. The internal lamination is made from biosourced materials
- Cups for cold drinks are made from corn bioplastic
- The cutlery is made of bamboo shells
- The agitators are made of FSC-certified wood
- Kraft bags are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified with vegetable inks and glues certified under REACH regulations
- Straws are no longer distributed

In total, 7 million plastic consumables will no longer be distributed each year, representing 41 tons of plastic, the equivalent of the weight of one of the Company's aircraft.
