The Volcano Group chooses Servair to design and build a central kitchen in Cairo

Servair, the French market leader and third-largest company worldwide in airline catering and logistics has agreed to an engineering contract with the Volcano Group for the design and construction of a central kitchen located in Cairo.

The signing of this new contract will leverage Servair’s expertise and reinforce its position on the African continent and in the Middle East.

Led by Egyptian property group Volcano, the kitchen will serve local authorities as well as the universities of Cairo and Alexandria (providing up to 30,000 student meals a day). The new central kitchen is planned to open in the last quarter of 2014. In view of the project's imminent start, a temporary kitchen will be set up between 1 June and 31 August.

The planned facility in Cairo will be owned and financed by the Volcano Group, with Servair holding an option to purchase 30% of the shares.

Present in Africa since 1989, Servair has gradually established itself as a major player in airline catering on the continent by building strong local partnerships at each facility. It currently operates twenty catering units in Africa, which not only comply with international standards, but also take into account the unique characteristics of each local area. New sites form part of an international development strategy designed to strengthen Servair's position as market leader across the African continent.
