In Benin, Acting for Life and Servair are focusing on organic farming to feed the cities.

Servair joins Acting for Life to support the AMAP* Benin project and promote local production from organic farming.

*AMAP = Association pour le Maintien d'une Agriculture Paysanne (association for the preservation of rural agriculture)

Created in November 2008, AMAP Benin, which includes 250 producers on 40 hectares, has the mission to promote local agriculture without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

It offers its subscribers the opportunity to pre-order fruit or vegetable baskets and fruit juices, which they can then pick up every Tuesday in the association's shop in Cotonou.

A pioneer in quality control, in 2011 AMAP Benin began an organic certification process in parallel with the implementation of a Participatory Guarantee System (BIO SPG, with the NGO Helvetas).

Supported by the NGO Acting for Life, which is working to improve its production tool, AMAP Benin is now accessing a new market, the Servair Benin distribution network through its institutional catering activity!

Servair's orders, only for fruit juices for the moment, should soon be extended to fresh fruit and vegetables.

The company also raises awareness of local consumer issues by participating in the organization of promotional events.

Following the success of this partnership, a similar operation should also be launched in Togo.
