servair has joined forces with Acting for Life to support the AMAP* Benin project and to promote local organic produce.
*AMAP = Association pour le Maintien d’une Agriculture Paysanne (Association for the preservation of local agriculture).

Founded in November 2008, AMAP Bénin, which brings together 250 producers on 40 hectares, aims to promote local agriculture without using chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
Subscribers can pre-order baskets of fruit or vegetables, as well as fruit juices, which they can then collect every Tuesday from the association’s Cotonou boutique.

A pioneer in quality control, in 2011 AMAP Bénin began the organic certification process, in parallel with the implementation of a Participatory Guarantee System (BIO SPG, with the NGO Helvetas).
Supported by the NGO Acting for Life, which is working to improve its production facilities, AMAP Bénin is now accessing a new market: servair Bénin’s distribution network via its catering business!
For the time being, only fruit juices are concerned, but servair’s orders should soon be extended to fresh fruit and vegetables.
The company is also working to raise awareness about the importance of local consumption by helping to organize promotional events.
Given the success of this partnership, a similar project is being planned for Togo.
