The 3 main players in the air and rail catering sector – Newrest, servair and LSG – have joined forces to create the Alliance des Métiers de la Restauration Aérienne et Ferroviaire (AMRAF).
The alliance represents over 12,200 jobs in France, and has suffered a 93% loss in sales since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
As world-renowned ETIs, first-tier subcontractors to airlines and railways, at the crossroads of 3 sectors – Catering, Tourism and Transport – we experienced an extremely violent impact of the crisis.
This is why the Alliance des Métiers de la Restauration Ferroviaire et Aérienne is asking to be considered by the public authorities and involved in discussions with professionals from the Tourism, Catering and Transport sectors, and to benefit from measures designed to help these sectors.
The Alliance des Métiers de la Restauration Aérienne et Ferroviaire thus wishes to:
- Benefit from the cancellation of social security contributions and taxes;
- Continued coverage of short-time working under current conditions beyond June 1;
- Benefit from specific measures to be taken as part of the stimulus package in September.

It’s important that the public authorities rapidly involve us in the discussions that have begun to save the 12,000 jobs linked to the tourism and catering industries in France that we represent. We are directly impacted by the crisis affecting the tourism industry, and the statements made by the airlines confirm that this crisis will be deep and long-lasting for our businesses. If the economy is to be revived and jobs safeguarded, the French government will also have to provide support for medium-sized companies, which make a major contribution to France’s industrial dynamism and play a key role in regional economic development.
The Alliance des Métiers de la Restauration Aérienne et Ferroviaire was created in April 2020 on the initiative of the heads of France’s 3 leading air and rail catering companies, Olivier Sadran (Founding Chairman of Newrest), Alexis Frantz (CEO of servair) and Xavier Muller (Chairman of LSG France). The timetable for its creation was accelerated by the Covid-19 crisis, in order to represent the common interests of its members, who employ 12,200 people in France.
